A recent KEDGE graduate, Elliot Collignon has founded Dizygn, a digital art startup that offers high-end custom graphics to professional athletes, but not just...

INTERVIEW WITH ELLIOT

Originally from Longwy, in north-eastern France, Elliot is 24 years old. In 2017, he moved to Marseille to do his third year of studies in KEDGE's Grande Ecole programme. There, he was a member of the Ski Club, the rugby team, and served as the President of the Student Association.

In 2019, he began his gap year working for Pirelli in Sydney, Australia for six months. When that finished, he decided to stay in Australia, where he founded his first company, Starter Media, a digital marketing consultancy for small- and medium-sized businesses. Starter Media is still in operation today.

Elliot returned to France in 2020 and finished getting his Master, which he did as a work-study at Bosch Automobile in Paris. It was while he was working there that he decided to set up a new venture: Dizygn. Now a graduate, he manages both companies full time.

How did the education you received at KEDGE Business School help you become who you are today, and how did its teachings help you develop your business?

Thanks to KEDGE's teaching approach, I was able to participate in many associations, and I had a blast doing so. Being involved in associations let me create things and organise some great events. For me, that's what sparked my entrepreneurial spirit.

Secondly, my internships, my work-study placement, and my trip to Australia opened my mind and allowed me to form a critical way of thinking as to the professional direction I wanted to take.

Finally, KEDGE was also a great place where I made some wonderful friends, with whom I have a very special connection.

Would tell us about your company and describe what it is you do?
Dizygn is a digital art company that aims to be a bridge between the urban world, sports, and art. I now sell my own artwork, which you can find on the website: www.dizygn.fr. But, I particularly specialise in the creation of personalised pieces for professional athletes, including :
  • Rugby: Gael Fickou, Maxime Machenaud, Cameron Woki, Gabin Villière, Ngani Laumape, Nicolas Sanchez, Pablo Matera, Tolu Latu, Caroline Drouin, and Marjorie Mayans ;
  • Football: Karim Benzema, Umut Bozok, Lilian Mickael Brassier, Enzo Zidane, and Léa Le Garrec;
  • UFC: Fares Ziam;
  • Handball: Adama Keita, and Robin Dourte ;
  • Basket: Vincent Poirier, Gerson Yabusele, Thomas Heurtel, Iliana Rupert, and Vincent Causeur;
  • Golf: Arnaud Serié, Romain Vallaeys.
My job is to take care of the day-to-day management of the business, from producing the artworks to shipping the products, as well as dealing with partnerships and accounting. The life of an entrepreneur is to have ten jobs in one, and that's what I love about it!

What are your development plans for the future?
My goal is to develop and scale the company in a sound manner while becoming a major player in the artwork and home decor industry in France. For the moment, I can run the business on my own, but I would like to be able to start hiring people soon so that it can grow more quickly. As far as artwork for athletes is concerned, the field of possibilities is infinite. It's incredible! My secret objective is to sketch a certain Argentinian player and meet him, but I'll have to work on it!
