KEDGE graduate Alexandre Testagrossa revolutionizes...
Sébastien, a KEDGE graduate, tells us about his experience with the Labo Job offered by KEDGE Alumni
A successful workshop offered by KEDGE Alumni, the Labo Job is a group where people help each other, share ideas, motivate each other, network, etc. The objective is to experiment in groups with concrete actions related to searching for employment.
You have just participated in Labo Job, a service for recent graduates at KEDGE. What were your motivations?
I graduated from a continuing education programme at the KEDGE campus in Bordeaux in 2020 and I left my job that same year. It had been more than 10 years since I had done a job search.
Job search strategies and the way to present yourself to companies have evolved. I was presenting myself the same way I had previously, but I wasn't receiving any responses to my applications.
So I wanted to take part in the Job Lab offered by KEDGE Alumni in a bid to correct and improve my job search and the applications I was sending to companies.
Would you describe, in a few sentences, your experience of the support you received and what it brought you?
The Job Lab workshops are led by Guylaine Di Giorgio, who has solid experience in recruitment agencies. The participants in the workshops are located all over the world, so the workshops are held by videoconference.
A Job Lab session consists, on average, of three 1.5 hour workshops one week apart. As for me, I wanted to participate in two sessions.
The two sessions were completely different. Guylaine adapts each session to the audience and the needs of the participants. During the first session, we all had more or less the same problem. Despite applying for positions, we weren't getting any responses. So we worked on presentation pitches, by identifying and highlighting our values and motivations.
For the second session, we worked more on concrete applications, drawing as much as possible on the KEDGE network, which is OUR network.
Finally, why would you recommend the Job Lab to other Kedgers?
First of all, it's very enriching to talk to other job seekers. When you're on your own, no one tells you what's not working, and it's easy to become insecure if you aren't getting feedback. Here, by interacting with other job seekers, we learn from each other's experiences. We identify the things that aren't working for others, we talk about them, and we give advice based on our own experience. We reassure and motivate each other. It's very difficult to do this on your own. In any case, it was very positive for me
It’s been a month since the last workshop and I’ve changed the way I present myself. This is starting to bear fruit as I've had an interview for a position I applied for. The recruitment process is still short and I am still in the running for that job.
I recommend that any Kedger who is looking for a job attend the Job Lab. Guylaine brings her experience from the recruiters' point of view and she always does it in a cheerful and caring way.
