Founded by Laura Drewett and Murielle Sitruk in 2019, Pourquoi Princesse (Why Princess) is a company that is committed to breaking the gender stereotypes of childhood. Being entrepreneurs, when faced with the lack of diversity in children’s fashion, the two founders couldn’t just stand back and not do something!
Their mission? Advancing gender equality through clothing that sends a message, but not just that! Opening up the field of possibilities for all girls so that they can see themselves in any career. Fashion is a strong way for children to express their passions and interests. When certain choices are offered to children solely based on their gender, it shapes the way they envision their future possibilities.
"Our girls have always liked a mix of clothes that they’ve found in both girls' and boys' departments. We believe that they, and all girls, should be offered more than just “princess clothes”, cosmetics, and stereotypical activities." - Laura and Murielle.

In addition to its line of clothing, Pourquoi Princesse raises awareness of equality amongst parents and their children, offering guides for parents with educational content and interviews of extraordinary women who’ve broken the glass ceiling in their sectors. To sum up, this impactful company conveys its values for a better world loud and clear.
Support the project through its crowdfunding campaign
To launch their first line of 100% girls power dresses, in dinosaur and rocket prints, to the general public, Laura and Murielle are holding a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule until 17 December. The campaign has already been a huge success with more than 355 pre-sales out of its target of 150 (to date)!
