KEDGE now offers an international doctorate

KEDGE launched its doctoral programme at the start of the 2020 academic year. Its objective is to provide research students with cutting-edge theoretical and empirical research methods. The school attaches great importance to the quality of its research and the excellence of its teacher-researchers. KEDGE regularly stands out in research-related rankings and has received several awards for the number and quality research of the papers it produces.

KEDGE has already been welcoming doctoral students to its research fellowships for several years. With the launch of its own programme, the school now aims to give research students the training they need to join the faculties of prestigious business schools and universities.

This PhD programme offers doctoral students a rich and high-quality education. It has been designed by the professors of excellence of KEDGE and courses are based on the latest methods and theories in research. They are taught entirely in English. Courses are also supplemented by seminars given by KEDGE experts and guest lecturers from other universities or schools during which students have the opportunity to interact directly with presenters.

"The doctoral programme that started this year is perfectly in line with the demand for excellence that we apply to our teaching and research. The first Class has students from seven different countries and who have very varied profiles. The quality of its courses and the intensity of the programme will allow students to easily transition to an academic career in the best schools and universities in the world," said Vincent Mangematin, Dean and Academic Director of KEDGE.

Contents of the programme

From the outset, students are integrated into the school's centre of research excellence, where they have the opportunity to work on research projects with members of the school's faculty. Each student benefits from personal supervision by a teacher-researcher who is an expert in his or her discipline.

During their studies, students in the programme are required to conduct research work that is destined to be published in leading international journals. Students must also acquire significant experience in higher education.

The programme is aimed at candidates who have a Master's degree and who are fluent in English. It lasts three to four years on a full-time basis and is taught on the Bordeaux and Marseille campuses. It has two phases:

  • The first phase lasts 18 to 24 months and consists of:
    - courses in research methods,
    - attending and presenting at research seminars, as and dedicated day for PhD students,
    - developing a research project with his or her supervisor.
  • The second phase lasts 18 to 24 months and consists of:
    - writing and defending a doctoral thesis,
    - presenting at research seminars, and a dedicated internal day for PhD students,
    - attending and presenting at external conferences.

KEDGE is one of the European leaders in academic research in management and is very ambitious in its research production goals. With four Centres of Excellence ("Supply Chain" (CESIT), "Sustainable Development", "Food, Wine and Hospitality", and "New Consumption and Marketing ") and three Centres of Expertise ("Finance reconsidered: SEEFAR", "Health & Innovation", and "Creative Industries and Culture"), KEDGE proves its know-how in high-level academic and applied research.
