ποΈ Interview | Hakim Baka, KEDGE graduate, elected President of French Tech Bordeaux
Graduating from KEDGE BS Grande Γcole program in 2008, Hakim Baka followed the path of entrepreneurship. Founder of the Geev impact application, incubated at KEDGE, he has just been elected President of French Tech Bordeaux for 2 year
π€ We were lucky enough to interview him to find out more about his vision, priorities and the influence KEDGE has had on his career.
π You've just been elected President of French Tech Bordeaux. What does this appointment mean to you and what are your priorities going to be?
"I'm immensely proud. Being elected by my peers as President of French Tech Bordeaux is a vote of confidence that I take very seriously. I'm not taking on this mission alone: I'm surrounded by a committed and complementary board, with whom I share the ambition to federate, energize and transform our ecosystem.
Bordeaux has everything it takes to remain one of France's most active innovation hubs π«π· and to make its mark on the European stage π . The next two years will be decisive in meeting major challenges: technological sovereignty, ecological transition π±, social impact, talent development.
Together with the team, we're going to work for a more responsible, greener, more inclusive tech - and above all at the service of its territory.
Inclusion, ecological transition and technological sovereignty are obviously key issues. But beyond the big words, I believe our role is to foster synergies, create links between entrepreneurs π€ stimulate pathways and accelerate cooperative ventures.
Our ambition is clear: to create an ecosystem with greater solidarity, resilience and impact. And to achieve this, it all starts with the collective."
π How has your training at KEDGE influenced your entrepreneurial path?
When I graduated from the Grande Γcole program in 2008, entrepreneurship was not yet at the heart of the curriculum. But it was during my university exchange to the United States πΊπΈ that I discovered this entrepreneurial culture, made up of boldness, pragmatism and creativity. It was a real wake-up call.
In the years that followed, I was able to capitalize on the KEDGE network and on the evolution of the school, which strongly reinforced its support for project leaders. The KEDGE Entrepreneurship incubator - the Business Nursery π - was a precious support at certain stages of my career. I was sensitive to their ambition to support impact projects acting for a sustainable society π.
So it was only logical that I should apply to incubate my Geev app at the school.
π± Let's talk about your startup GEEV: how far along are you in its development?
I co-founded GEEV in 2016. Today, it has become the leading app for donating items between private individuals, with over 6 million users and 55 million items donated since its inception.
By donating and recovering objects or food for free in a simple, geolocated way π the platform fights against waste. Geev was also singled out in Mouvement Impact France's 2024 IMPACT 40/120 ranking, as a promising player in the circular and solidarity economy π.
A distinction that rewards all the ground we've covered in the last 10 years.
Finally, what KEDGE has given me in the way of entrepreneurship, I also want to pass on π¬. That's why I recently had the chance to return to KEDGE as a coach in the incubator. This role enabled me to support young entrepreneurs, but also to learn a great deal from them.
I'm proud to maintain this link with the school π. It feeds both my career path and my desire to pass on my knowledge.
