Discover the KEDGE MBA through the eyes of Benoit Canolle (class of 2022)

Explore the many facets of the KEDGE MBA through the eyes of our graduates. Successes, challenges overcome and valuable advice, discover how this transforming experience forged their path to professional excellence.

In a few words, who are you and what is your background?

I'm a scientist by training, with a PhD in Neuroscience and 17 years' experience in R&D in the pharmaceutical industry. So, before joining the MBA program, I had a profile and career path that I could describe as expert in the field of science and R&D.

Why did you choose an Executive MBA at KEDGE Business School?

Doing an MBA came quite naturally to me as part of my professional development. I've been lucky enough to work for some great companies, in which I've constantly progressed. As my career progressed, strategic choices and geopolitical contexts became increasingly important. It became clear to me that I had to step up my game in these areas to open new professional doors. KEDGE was the right choice for me. People are important to me and my first interactions reassured me of the importance of human relations at KEDGE Business School.

How did the MBA help you anticipate the transitions facing companies and organizations today?

The MBA is about understanding, beyond our knowledge of our own organizations, the uncertainty of the world, and its rapid and constant changes. In a way, the MBA gave me a new, more global view of our society in general and organizations in particular. This understanding provides the keys to adapting and thinking in "adaptation" mode.

In a business environment that is becoming increasingly digitalized and "environmentalized", how has the MBA enabled you to better understand the importance of human capital in the changes that companies need to make?

Human capital, beyond all the new tools we can develop, remains the strength of any company/organization. As a leader, we sometimes question our management and leadership methods in order to engage and respect this human capital, without which companies wouldn't exist. The MBA is also an opportunity to learn and exchange on these subjects, to improve and grow.

In your opinion, what have been the main contributions of the MBA to your professional development?

First and foremost, the MBA was a fantastic personal adventure, with some wonderful encounters. The MBA was also an opportunity to move from an expert's view of my field to a broader, more strategic view of organizations and the world. You don't come out of the MBA any different; you come out having grown in the way you approach your subjects. It's a great way to grow personally, and to grow professionally. Today, I'm CEO of a start-up. The MBA really accelerated my professional development, and enabled me to approach this transition with a great deal of serenity!
