This Kedger has sold more than 400 of his brand’s t-shirts, made from French linen, in just one week

During his last year of his Master in KEDGE’s Grande Ecole Programme, Jean Forestier and his brother Pierre launched their ready-to-wear fashion brand: Gratitude.

A year after the initial shirts came out, Gratitude now offers Le T-shirt – made from 100% organic linen entirely fabricated in France.

It's impossible to make it more French! From manufacture to storage, Gratitude t-shirts have barely travelled 1,000 kilometres in France. “We try to have the shortest distribution circuit possible. The linen is cultivated in Normandy, then woven in Troyes before being cut and sewn in Caen.” It’s harder to do better when we know that most clothing has travelled around the planet before landing on our shoulders.

In March 2020, Gratitude had just been created. It met its first success with its shirts made from French linen. Launched during the first lockdown, its crowdfunding campaign on Ulule had more than 300 presales and raised a total of 25,302 euros.

Today, Jean and his brother have released a new product. “Le T-shirt is a challenge because it’s the most basic item of clothing in our wardrobe, more popular than the shirt and also more accessible.” Le T-shirt comes in four colours and two different models and can be purchased on pre-order for 45 euros on the Ulule platform until 8 May. “This may seem expensive, but behind this price is the fair remuneration to our partners, as well as the use of natural organic materials”, explained Jean in justifying the price.

And this concept has its fans. More than 400 T-shirts were sold within the week the Ulule campaign kicked off (6 April), which was more than 400% of their initial goal. With this very encouraging start, Pierre and Jean hope to surpass 500% of their goal so they can create a new product with their community partners. Reaching 1000% would allow them to build a small stock and accelerate the growth of Gratitude because the two brothers’ dream is to offer a complete wardrobe to their clients.
