A Kedger launches a new brand of sweatshirts: Mémoire de Tissus

Just graduated from KEDGE, Rodrigue Barcilon has decided to launch himself into entrepreneurship and found his own clothing brand

A true fashion icon, the sweatshirt has become a staple of all wardrobes. With his new brand: Mémoire de Tissus (M.D.T.), Rodrigue has developed a simple concept: combine the classic crew neck sweatshirt with ethnic fabrics from around the world.                                                                                                      

"This project combines several objectives that gives sense of our clothes. It is both an invitation to travel and a discovery of other cultures, associated with business approach that is both ethical and responsible," said the young graduate.

Designed and fabricated in the heart of Paris, in the 10th arrondissement, the sweatshirts are handmade and available in limited quantities. No two M.D.T. sweatshirts are identical.

"We want to make you travel through textile traditions around the world and introduce you to new cultures. Becoming aware of the world around us lets us to better understand the challenges of our time,” said Rodrigue.

As part of the brand’s launch, Rodrigue has a crowdfunding campaign on Ulule. Two collections are available for pre-order

  • The Japanese-inspired "SHIBORI" and "TAYRO-BATA" collection;
  • And African-influenced "C'est le WAX" collection.

The packaging is also respectful of nature and no plastic is used. Boxes and labels are made of eco-friendly and recycled cardboard, and tissue paper, safety pins, and labels are locally made.

M.D.T. products are unique, living, sustainable, and have an open-mindedness to the world. They are made with respect for people and their environment.

Finally, it is important to mention that €5 of each sweatshirt sold will be donated to CHETNA ORGANIC. This organisation, which was created in 2004 in India, helps more than 15,000 independent cotton producers to improve their living and working conditions while developing an ethical and environmentally friendly production process. 

"Curious, traveler, amateur of culture and streetwear, one night, I had an idea – a little crazy - to create hand-made sweatshirts.

After several months of work, I decided to launch my own brand of sweatshirts, combining classical crew necked models and ethnic materiels from around the world. MDT products are an invitation to travel the world to discover other cultures and subscribe to a business model that is ethical and responsible.

The Mémoire de Tissues sweats are unique, and produced respecting humans and the environment.  Stylish and connected to the issues of our times."
