This Kedger reissues old video games and surfs the wave of retro-gaming!

Nostalgic for your SEGA Megadrive, Super Nintendo, or Dreamcast? This KEDGE graduate takes you back to your childhood...

A 2008 graduate of KEDGE Business School’s Entertainment and Media Management MSc, Sami CHLAGOU is now head of Free Agent, a video game development studio. However, before that, Sami worked in his first passion - the audio-visual sector. “With my brand-new diploma, I went into the audio-visual sector where I was a production assistant, production manager, executive producer,” said Sami.

In 2011, Sami decided to venture into the retro-video games sector. “I started by emptying attics to find "treasures" and reselling them on the internet. Two years later, I saw that sector was doing well, so I set up my business and hired an employee on salary”.

In 2014, with the help of his savings, he launched a start-up that would become the first private video game sales site: Rush On Game. This site sells video games (Switch, PS4, Xbox...) at attractive prices because they are purchased in bulk.

Following this successful venture, he bought Storybird, a videogame development studio, and develops small games available on mobiles and consoles. Its most popular game: Guns of Mercy, which has a vintage spirit and style, has been downloaded more than 700,000 times! Sami also obtained approval to release games, first from Nintendo, then from Sony. This year, the successful entrepreneur has taken another step by launching an international platform called Pixelheart.eu, and has twinned with companies in Japan and Hungary. One of the specialties of the studio is to reissue old Dreamcast, SEGA Megadrive, or Super Nintendo games. So, Sami and his team are giving thousands of gamers around the world to experience the pleasures of their childhood.

This incredible success earned Free Agent the 2017 "Innovative startup” award, which was covered in dozen press articles, including Le Figaro last month, as well as in several TV reports.

This year, and on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the SEGA Dreamcast, Sami and his team will reissue the arcade game Racing Legends, a racing game which will be available on Android, iOS, Steam, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The crowdfunding campaign launched to develop this project has already raised more than 45,000€ (while the target was set at 25,000€).

A crazy success that’s not likely to make Sami and his team stop!
