Thanks to this KEDGE graduate, 600 volunteers will make 50k masks and 20k gowns in Marseille!
A KEDGE 1999 graduate, Jocelyn Meire is at the head of the FASK association, which has launched its collective "Couturiers Solidaires du Sud".
At the initiative of this KEDGE graduate, beginning on Wednesday, 15 April, the FASK association will provide ready-to-sew kits (fabric, thread, and even hydro-alcoholic gel) to its 600 volunteers - first in Marseille and then gradually to 34 teams throughout the region, so they can make gowns and masks for nursing staff.
In Marseilles, the Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-AMP) has made Palais de la Bourse available to be the logistics base for the Couturiers Solidaires du Sud (Solidarity Fashion Designers of the South). FASK's volunteer teams will receive the raw materials needed for the gowns and masks there, and pack them into kits and redistribute them to the "Couturières Solidaires du Sud" volunteers located throughout the region. The finished products will then be collected to be cleaned by the AP-HM (Marseille Public University Hospital System) and then used by its staff.

"We were looking for a central place to have a logistics base. I asked Chairman Jean-Luc Chauvin if the Palais de la Bourse was available, without really believing it would happen, and he replied, "We’re game!” And here we are," said Jocelyn Meire, FASK’s founder. “Not only has made the Palais available to us been an enormous help), but given its geographic location (at the base of the famous, Canebière) and its history (headquarters of the oldest Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the world), a strong signal has been sent. Members of our collective, made up of big names in the regional textile industry and professional and amateur designers, have gathered in this iconic place in the service of the public interest.”
"This is the result of the work that we began with the services of the AP-HM last Friday (April 3), after having been put in contact with them by the CCI-AMP. A design was approved by the internal authorities at the beginning of the week. We also took into account the recommendations published by the IFTH (French Textile & Apparel Institute) a few days ago," explained Jocelyn Meire.
Goal: produce 50,000 masks by mid-May, and 20,000 gowns as soon as possible!
"We will start with "single-use" material sourced directly from the Marseille Public University Hospital System (AP-HM), then within ten days we should be able to switch to washable fabric (selected according to IFTH recommendations),” explained the Association’s President.
