Meetings on Sustainable Development

“Rencontres Du Développement Durable”, organised by the l’Institut Open Diplomacy under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic

Initiated by the Open Diplomacy l’nstitut in partnership with KEDGE, the aim of the Sustainable Development Meetings is to offer French citizens debate on ecological and solidarity transition just after the general debate of the UN General Assembly. Placed under the high patronage of Mr Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic, the first annual event was to take place from 22 to 29 September 22nd in seven of the French Grandes Ecoles located throughout the country (Montpellier, Marseille, Dijon, Strasbourg, Paris, Bordeaux, and Nantes) before COVID-19 forced the complete digitalisation of the event recorded from Paris

 

The meetings will be broadcast live on www.les-rdd.fr/live.

  • In 2020, the RDDs will include around 70 live conferences broadcast on the event site, covering seven different themes: (link on the attached programme)
  • 22 September: Transforming Capitalism, with Minister Bruno Le Maire and Muhammad Yunus (Nobel Prize winner),
  • 23 September: Sharing the Earth, in the presence of Minister Barbara Pompili and Youba Sokona (Vice-President, IPCC), and Hugo Clément, Journalist
  • 24 September: Accessing Well-Being, with Minister Ségolène Royal and Guy Ryder (Director-General, ILO),
  • 25 September: Acting in Time, with Frans Timmermans and Alain Le Roy (former UN Under-Secretary-General),
  • 26 September: Building the Europe of Ecology,  with Claire Waysand (interim Chief Executive Officer, Engie)
  • 28 September: Recycling the Economy, with Emmanuel Grenier (President, Cdiscount), Minister Olivia Grégoire, and Jeffrey Sachs, President, UN-SDSN and Professor at Columbia University
  • 29 September: Conducting the Right Transition, in the presence of Minister Sarah El Haïry and Joseph Stiglitz (Nobel Prize)
