Who are the two KEDGE alumni creators of Digitick, Edoki and Mobivillage?
Following the acquisition of Digitick by Vivendi, Emmanuel and Sylvain founded Edoki Academy, a company that makes educational games for more than 7 million children.
Emmanuel Guyot and Sylvain Lumbroso both received their diplomas from KEDGE Business School in 1998.
When they left school in 2000, they created Mobivillage (now Docomo Digital), a company that became a pioneer in the mobile web, from music downloads, to the personalisation of mobile phones, and on to java games. Mobivillage was acquired by the Japanese group For-side in 2004.
They became known in 2004 for revolutionising the French ticket industry by launching Digitick, a French company that specialised in the online sales of tickets to shows, sporting, cultural, and leisure events. Together, the company ranked in the top 3 of the field before its successful sale to Vivendi in 2010.
Today, they head Edoki Academy, a company that makes educational apps. It has 15 employees based in Paris, Marseille, London, and Montreal. Its apps are aimed to broaden the minds of children and are based on the Montessori method of teaching (an educational approach that began at the beginning of the 20th century that allows each intelligence to develop, starting from practical materials), as well as more recent technologies. The company was formed in 2016 from the merger between Edoki and Seven Academy (founded by Emmanuel and Sylvain), two French start-ups specialising in Montessori educational applications. "We decided to join forces to create a true French player capable holding its own against the Americans,” explained Emmanuel Guyot.
Aimed at 3 to 8-year olds, Edoki Academy has created numerous apps that cover four subject areas (maths, reading, creativity, and logical thinking). They are available in 15 languages and are available on the App Store, Google Play, and Amazon, where they are regularly ranked in the top downloads. Edoki Academy also offers a platform where parents and teachers can follow the student’s progress. The company is currently the world leader in educational apps based on the Montessori teaching method.
Emmanuel is very involved in the activities of the KEDGE alumni network and, further, has contributed to the financing of GEEV, a start-up launched by another KEDGE BS graduate. (See video below. In French.)
