Incubated at KEDGE, this start-up creates objects out of food waste!

Both a student at KEDGE and incubated at the school's Business Nursery, Luc Fischer has created Repulp, an innovative and ecological start-up!

Hello Luc. Tell us about your educational background. What did you study, both before and at KEDGE?

I did all of my graduate studies on a work-study basis. I first started by validating a BTS in Business Unit Management which then served as a solid basis for me to join the bachelor business development in my third year as an AST. Finally, I passed the AST2 exam and then enrolled in the Grande Ecole programme at KEDGE Marseille.

After I got my bachelor's degree, I continued by joining the Grande Ecole programme. Through the work-study programme, I was able to gain professional experience as a business engineer.

Tell us about your project that was incubated in the Business Nursery.

I’d heard a lot about the Business Nursery and its many projects. When we first started working on Repulp, we presented it during the call for projects to get support from professionals. It was hugely beneficial, and I recommend that anyone starting a project at KEDGE should go and meet them.

Basically, we use citrus waste to make a new material!

This project adheres to an eco-responsible and local approach. In fact, we have a partnership with a fresh fruit juice producer in the southern region who supplies us with the citrus fruit waste from juice extraction.

With this new raw material from food industry waste, we have created a sustainable and compostable material.

Repulp is a line of objects that promotes ecological values while offering everyday products. Our first creation: the Repulp cup! We wanted to offer an alternative to ceramic or glass crockery with this new material.

What are your development goals for the future?

We’re in the middle of a participatory fundraising campaign, which will give us the means to finance finding materials, then the industrialisation of our products.

How did your education at KEDGE Business School help you with your project?

The education I received at KEDGE allowed me to develop this project, broaden my scope of vision, and provided me with all the keys necessary to carry out the Repulp project. The lessons I had helped me develop my strengths and overcome my weaknesses. What really made a difference were the very supportive people I met.

How did the Business Nursery help you construct your project and contribute to its success?

The Business Nursery helped us to avoid many mistakes, and experts came from advice who know their subjects deeply and know how to guide us.

Within the incubator is a community of entrepreneurs. We offer each other real moral support and increase motivation. In addition, all the coaches are caring and have the success of our projects at heart.

If you had to give advice to any other KEDGE graduate who would like to do something similar, what would it be?

The best advice I can give is to use all the resources that our school makes available. There are many, and of very high quality.

Anything to add?  A message to pass along?

We're still in the middle of a crowdfunding campaign. So don’t hesitate to support it and share if you are interested in this project! Every contribution is important!
