This Kedger’s well-known company has temporarily halted manufacturing shoes in order to make masks!

Sophie Engster, the co-founder and General Manager of Chamberlan has temporarily modified the activities of "Chamberlan" to respond to the health emergency.

Sophie Engster graduated from KEDGE in 2006. She’s an Alumna who’s very committed to the life of the school that trained her. In particular, she’s the patron of the 2018-2019 class of Chinese students who are attending KEDGE, and she regularly puts her experience at the service of the support and professional integration of students and young entrepreneurs.

Chamberlan specialises in the fabrication of bespoke shoes. The company’s headquarters are based in Nontron, in Nouvelle Aquitaine, and its offices and boutiques are located in Paris.

In order to respond to the current health crisis while at the same time starting up the company's activity during this unusual period, Chamberlan began manufacturing masks in mid-April with four volunteer employees and 36 specially recruited staff. "We make masks that meet current AFNOR standards and that have been tested and certified by the DGA (category 1 masks, washable at least 50 times) [...] We are now producing more than 10,000 masks per day." - Sophie Engster

"Chamberlan has been affected by the Coronavirus from January. Orders of luxury shoes from our factory in Nontron factory were abruptly frozen on the Chinese market, as was the opening of boutiques in Shenzhen and Shanghai. What’s more, the lockdown in Europe that was enforced in March blocked both sales and the supply of raw materials (especially skins and heels from Italy and Spain), and quickly halted manufacturing." - francebleu.fr

This temporary activity has allowed Chamberlan to continue to operate while it is waiting to start manufacturing shoes again, in June if possible.
