This kedger launches Salto, a flexible salary access solution!

A 2013 graduate, Kevin Ansiau created the Salto app, which allows employees to access the portion of their salary for the days they’ve already worked in just one click.

INTERVIEW 💬

1️⃣ To begin, tell us about your educational background. What did you study, both before and at KEDGE?

Before I went to KEDGE (Marseille campus), I was in Cambridge in 2007, then went to Newcastle in 2008 to study at Northumbria University in its Business & International Management programme. I began at KEDGE in 2009 to do the CESEMED programme. After that, in 2011, I returned to London, England, to complete my programme at Hertfordshire University.

2️⃣ Tell us what you did after your studies were finished. What positions have you held? What did you learn in those positions?

I started my career in communications at JCDecaux. First I was in marketing & insights, then in sales. After that, I managed the group's innovation unit for almost two years, before I set up my first digital company in the UK. Then I created and launched the UK subsidiary of a French entertainment group, just before I associated with a friend to create Salto.

3️⃣ What are you doing/what is your situation today? What gave you the idea and why do you want to do what you’re doing today?

Salto is the solution for flexible access to pay. Once a company implements it, employees can access a portion of their salary, based on the number of days they’ve already worked, directly from our mobile app.

This gives you instant access to the fruits of your labour, whenever you need it, and without having to make a special request to your employer.

Our mission is two-fold:

  1. We want to reduce the financial stress of employees and resorting to personal debt solutions (such as overdrafts and micro-credit); and
  2. We want to enable companies to promote a more motivating and competitive pay policy. We created Salto because more than 10 million employees in France regularly exceed their authorised overdraft limit, almost a quarter of French people are overdrawn every month, and this financial pressure is the primary source of stress in the workplace, with significant consequences for the company.

4️⃣ What are your development goals for the future?

Hold an initial fundraising to accelerate our business development and make new features and other innovative tools available that will allow employees to achieve greater financial stability.

5️⃣If you were to give advice to any KEDGE graduate who wants to do something similar, what would it be?

Just go for it. Fight for the things you are passionate about, focus on the essential - that is, on the main challenge you want to face, and know how to surround yourself with the right people. Be analytical and methodical.

Above and beyond the quality education I received, I would say that the wonderful people I met there, and its international dimension, (which is very characteristic of the CESEMED programme), have been beneficial to me in many ways.

6️⃣Anything you’d like to add? A message to pass on?

To any student or graduate looking for sales and marketing opportunities, don’t hesitate to contact us via our website!
