Adventure enthusiast and speaker, this Kedger has now launched a unique concept that combines adventure and coaching!

After the success of his "Change Experience" conference/show, KEDGE graduate Nicolas Felger (Class of 2004) has started "Coach My Adventure" - an immersive concept that combines ADVENTURE and COACHING to motivate and unite employees.

International speaker and performance expert, Nicolas Felger is a true performer. With a rich and peculiar background, and his passion for humanity, Nicolas uncontestably sets himself apart with a unique and innovative concept based on his interactive "live" experiences so that everyone can tap into their mental powers and reveal their full potential.

An adventure enthusiast, he took part in the KOH-LANTA trip in 2006 and has done several extreme challenges, such as a winter climb to the highest peak in North Africa (Mount TOUBKAL - 4167 metres) in February 2017 and swam across the Gibraltar Strait in 2018.

With the development of his new concept "coach my adventure", he offers immersive adventures to change the shape of things, refocus priorities, restore meaning to employees, and give the insights that are necessary for change!

INTERVIEW - NICOLAS FELGER

1) As a former student of KEDGE, what memories do you have of the school, and what has left the most impact?

I have some excellent memories of my time in KEDGE’s Master in International Sport and Event Management programme, both on the educational side and the people side of things. The courses I taught gave me a GPS (Global, Professional, Specific) understanding of the field of Sport and Events on an international scale, including the organisation, management, finance, legal, communications, marketing, and sales aspects.

The specialised Master's degree gave me the necessary skills, efficiency, and credibility, and undeniably contributed to the start of my professional career. When I was still a student at KEDGE, I was impressed by the strength and solidarity of its network, as well as the fact that it is continually innovating and is a pioneer in its training programmes. The intervening years have only reinforced these values, and the strength of KEDGE is evident by the sprawling global network of its Alumni.

2) Tell us what you’ve done since you got your degree.

With a career as a high-level athlete, having both a STAPs Bachelor degree in Sports and a Master degree in Sports Management from KEDGE, and having worked for more than 10 years in the corporate world in positions of responsibility, I realised that my life lacked meaning - that my real added value was elsewhere and that my life's mission was to contribute to the fulfilment, development, and transformation of individuals!

So 10 years ago, in 2011, my career took a 180-degree turn. I left everything and spent three years building a new life for myself to give it new meaning. I trained with internationally recognised experts for three years and spent three years working to become a "Certified NLP Professional Coach" so I could work on personal development subjects in the corporate world.

Today, as an international speaker and coach, I'm known for my penchant for taking risks and surpassing myself. My team and I have created a "conference/show" called CHANGE EXPERIENCE; an innovative concept, unique in Europe, where employees are brought to live stage experiences to overcome their limitations, get out of their comfort zone, and improve their performance during their sessions. More than 120,000 people across 12 countries and 3 continents have already taken part in order to access their full potential.

3) Tell us about your new business: “Coach My Adventure”.

Coach My Adventure is an immersive and unique concept for companies and their employees. The objective is to draw parallels between the dynamics of the company and what happens during the adventure between the teams. Its purpose is to identify the strengths, weaknesses, doubts, and fears of every participant in order to bring out each one’s potential which ultimately benefits the company in terms of group performance and team unity

Coaching is provided throughout the adventure to bring out the best in each of the participants. Methods include "Solutions" coaching, solving strategic issues faced by employees, and helping them to reach their goals. This inspires them, challenges them, and helps them gain insights to transform the team and emerge with a concrete action plan in line with the group’s objectives.

An adventurer and enthusiast of extreme challenges, I’ve swum across the Strait of Gibraltar and climbed the highest peaks in Europe and Africa in the winter.

In order to position ourselves on an international and high-end market, we’ve joined forces with Evolution2, the European leader in outdoor adventures. Evolution 2 has 35 years of experience in the field with 30 locations on three continents, 500 professionals in the field. It holds 300 events a year and has already helped more than 5,000 companies worldwide.

4) If you were to give advice to any KEDGE graduate who wants to do something similar, what would it be?

It takes passion, passion, passion! Nothing grand is made without passion. You definitely must learn to listen to your instincts. No matter what the critics say, no matter what difficulties you face, or failures you experience, never give up! Aim for the moon, because if you fail, at least you’ll end up amongst the stars! Do things with your heart and your guts not to feed your ego, your reputation, or your wallet. You’ll be much happier, free, and fulfilled!

5) Why do you think it’s important for a school to have a robust alumni network?

In my opinion, KEDGE's greatest strength today is its globally recognised Alumni network. It’s a powerful lever of opportunities and connections that allow Kedgers from all over the world to interact and collaborate. In the last few years, the network has taken on new energy. I sense a real dynamic of solidarity and sharing, which I think is just great. I now work with graduates who have positions of responsibility within large companies and who want to bring our transformative experience to their teams and colleagues.
