Two KEDGE Alumni have founded PIAMA: deco-responsible plants!

Philippine and Marie, both graduates from the Grande Ecole Programme at KEDGE, have just launched a crowdfunding campaign that is a hit!

Philippine Gancel and Marie Lancien, two former students of the Grande Ecole Programme at KEDGE Business School in Bordeaux, started their entrepreneurial adventure in 2019. The friendship between Philippine (nicknamed "Pia") and Marie is the origin of the name PIAMA. After eight years of studying together, living together, and entrepreneurial projects, the time has come for them to get started on their own entrepreneurial creation!

With a specialisation in social entrepreneurship and sustainable development/ CSR at KEDGE, they naturally decided to create a company with an eco-responsible aspect: PIAMA.

The two young entrepreneurs make indoor plant pots that contain plants grown without pesticides or fertilisers within 30 km of Nantes

"Our little something extra is that we salvage objects slated to be thrown away so that they can hold plants [...] In other words, we upcycle wine crates, cans, or second-hand objects," they told us.

The indoor plant pots, which are 100% local and recycled, come in several models for pre-sale in the Nantes and Brittany region:

  • The tinned can - covered in pretty removable and interchangeable fabric, containing easy-to-care for succulents or cactuses;
  • The wine crate - transformed in order to accommodate a large Sansevieria / mother-in-law’s tongue;
  • Very limited editions - created from second-hand objects found in flea markets or recycling centres that hold succulents chosen for their originality.

Crowdfunding: goal reached in two days

After 6 months of preparationPIAMA started its crowdfunding campaign on Ulule. The pre-sales target was reached in only 48 hours: 60 pre-sales out of a target of 40. Crowfunding ends in about twenty days (November 4), enough to double, or even triple, the initial target.
