Oenology - Burgundy - continued

Session registration

Since October 2020, KEDGE Alumni Wine Tasting has been offering a new concept for wine tasting meetings. These meetings have existed for 20 years are led by Muriel Petit, a professional oenologist, and Olivier Mora, a graduate, were previously organised in person in Paris. However, due to the COVID-19 epidemic and related restrictions, all our in-person events have been cancelled until further notice. On the other hand, we have been working on a new format so we won’t lose momentum.

From now on, our oenological meetings will take place by videoconference and are open to all KEDGE students and graduates, whether you are in France or abroad. You will receive PDF documentation before the classes giving information as to your

The workshops will now be live-streamed so you can interact with the oenologist and ask your questions directly to her. Each session ends with a live tasting!

Who's it for? 
  • Students and graduates
  • People of any level - prior experience is not required
  • People who love wine
Format: 
  • Sessions will be held by video-conference. (You just need a computer, an internet connection, and ideally a webcam.)
  • Sessions are conducted in French
Rates:
  • You can choose sessions either "à la carte" or take a "semester pack"
  • When choosing several sessions, please select the option corresponding to the number of sessions you wish to participate in

Session 1: Thursday, 4 February 2021 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm:

Champagne: discover the Champagne region and Champagne
  • What are the different wine-growing areas of Champagne, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • How is Champagne made?
  • History of Champagne.
  • What are the different types of Champagne?
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Champagne

 

Session 2: Thursday, 18 February 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Alsace: Discover the Alsace region
  • What are the different wine-growing areas of the Alsace region, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • What are the different types of Alsatian wines?
  • What are the specificities of Alsatian wines?
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Alsatian wines

Session 3: Thursday, 11 March 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Bordeaux: discover the vineyards of Bordeaux
  • What are the different wine-growing areas of Bordeaux, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • What are the different types of Bordeaux wines?
  • What are the specificities of Bordeaux wines?
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Bordeaux wines

Session 4: Thursday, 25 March 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Bordeaux - Continued
  • Study of the different Bordeaux appellations in detail and the differences between them
  • Study of the different types of Bordeaux wine and wine-making
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Bordeaux wines

 

Session 5: Thursday, 1 April 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Burgundy: Discover the Burgundy region
  • What are the different wine-growing areas of Burgundy, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • What are the different types of Burgundy wines?
  • What are the specificities of Burgundy wines? (concept of vintages/climate)
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Burgundy wines

Session 6: Thursday, 15 April 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Burgundy - continued 
  • Study of the different Burgundy appellations in detail and the differences between them
  • Study of the different types of Burgundy wines and wine-making

Session 7: Thursday, 6 May 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

Côtes du Rhône: discover the vineyards of the Rhône Valley
  • What are the different Côtes du Rhône wine-growing areas, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • What are the different types of Côtes du Rhône wines?
  • What are the specificities of Côtes du Rhône wines?
  • Food/wine pairing advice for Côtes du Rhône wines

 

Session 8: Thursday, 27 May 2021, from 7 to 8:30 pm:

The Loire Valley: discover the vineyards of the Loire region
  • What are the different wine-growing areas of the Loire Valley, the different appellations and grape varieties?
  • What are the different types of wines from the Loire Valley?
  • What are the specificities of wines from the Loire Valley?
  • Food/wine pairing advice for wines from the Loire Valley

 

OPTIONAL: If you wish, you can buy wine corresponding to that week’s session to taste it during the meeting.


 

Led by: 

Muriel Petit has been an oenologist for many years. She gives courses in both large and small companies, associations, and at schools and restaurants. Her website is "Muriel Petit chef à domicile et formation". "Muriel Petit has been a wine and cooking instructor since 1997 for restaurant professionals, companies, and individuals. She offers her services as a home chef as well as training courses and oenological and culinary events for all audiences (professionals, companies, individuals, work events, associations, adults, and children)."
